On The Range – We Predict The Future!

This week we predict the future and we are NOT wrong, as of right now. We are excited to roll out a new blog series, On The Range With Rock Bottom Golf. We will be updating the blog weekly during the PGA season with our picks for the upcoming weeks’ events. We will also open the door to more opinion-related pieces regarding current PGA outings, news, and more! The opinions expressed in this blog are not associated with Rock Bottom Golf but are the opinions of our writers. We envision this blog as a way to begin a discussion, debate, and conversation with YOU and the rest of our followers so be sure to comment!

For our first edition on On The Range, we do a way-too-early prediction of the winners of the four Majors plus PGA Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year for 2019.

The 4 Major Winners

The Masters – April 11-14 – Augusta National – Augusta, Georgia

Top Pick – Justin Thomas (2016-T39, 2017-T22, 2018-T17, 2019-WINNER)

Wildcard – Rickie Fowler (Is it finally time for him to win a major?)

Wildcard – Tiger Woods (50% will HATE this pick…the other 50% will LOVE it)

Wildcard – Jordan Spieth (Maybe Augusta is where he refinds his golf game?)

PGA Championship – May 16-19 – Bethpage Black – Farmingdale, New York

Top Pick – Brooks Koepka (He is really, really, really, really good at majors)

Wildcard – Cameron Champ (We are really HIGH on this rookie)

U.S. Open – June 13-16 – Pebble Links Golf Links – Pebble Beach, California

Top Pick – Brooks Koepka (No seriously he is really, really, really, really good)

Wildcard – Justin Thomas

Wildcard – Tommy Fleetwood

The Open Championship – July 18-21 – Royal Portrush – Northern Ireland

Top Pick – Tommy Fleetwood

Wildcard – Francesco Molinari

Wildcard – Dustin Johnson

Wildcard – Rory McIlroy (Maybe playing at home in Northern Ireland will lend a helping hand and allow Rory to capture another major)

2019 Awards

Player of the Year

Top Pick – Brooks Koepka

Wildcard – Bryson DeChambeau

Rookie of the Year

Top Pick – Cam Champ (We see him contending in quite a few events this year)

Wildcard – Sungjae Im

Wildcard – Chase Wright

2019 Bold Predictions

Bryson DeChambeau

Bryson will be a DOMINATE player in 2019. He will finish in the Top 10 in 3 out of the 4 majors, he will also collect at least 3 wins this season. In the end, though he will lose out on Player of the Year to Brooks Koepka.

Brooks Koepka

Brooks will be the best player on the PGA tour this season, and possibly for seasons to come. He currently has 3 major wins and we are calling for 2 more this season. He may not always perform as the best during regular PGA events but he makes up for it in majors.

Tiger Woods

2019 is NOT the comeback year for Tiger Woods to return to his prior greatness. Will Tiger be relevant? Yes. Will Tiger win a Major? Possibly. Will Tiger contend in at least 3 events? Yes. Tiger Woods is loved by a lot of golf fans, he is also very much hated by a lot of other golf fans, the numbers don’t lie though when Tiger is in contention people tune in to the PGA.

Tony Finau

Tony Finau gained a lot of attention at the 2018 Masters, during the Par 3 contest he twisted his ankle during a hole in one celebration. The Ryder Cup was able to shine more light on Finau, he earned 2 points for the U.S. This year Finau will continue his climb in the PGA, he will be in the Top 10 for at least 2 majors and Top 5 for 1.

What do YOU think of the predictions? We want to hear from YOU! We would love to know your thoughts on our predictions and your own 2019 predictions. Let the discussions begin!
