Gearin’ Up For The Masters!

The buzz is building around Augusta with just a few days left before the Masters Tournament begins! Maybe because all the heavyweights of the game are on the roster: Fred Couples, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Lucas Glover, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods and last year’s winner, Angel Cabrera among them…

The return of Tiger sent ticket prices soaring & has the CBS Sports team salivating over what will certainly be better ratings. This year’s tourney sold out, of course, and The Masters remains one of the sporting worlds’ toughest tickets to get. Don’t believe me? Ask Warren Lokey Jr., who had been to every Masters since 1959 but had to scramble for tickets in 2008 because of Augusta’s arcane ticketing system. After both his parents died, Warren wasn’t allowed to inherit their tourney tickets and has had to beg, borrow and outbid others to keep attending.

If you weren’t able to get a ticket, don’t fret. There are more than a few reasons to watch from home this year: this years Masters will be the first ever sporting event to be broadcast in 3D! The test shots have turned out brilliantly, so if you’re one of the lucky few thousand who have jumped on the 3D TV bandwagon, expect some company on your couch come Sunday.

Don’t forget you can keep a close eye on the course with CBS’ live camera feeds online. Head on over to the Masters website next Thursday – as long as the boss isn’t watching!

PS: It’s never too early to pick this year’s winner! My informal Rock Head Poll has Tiger coming up juuuust short and finishing in the Top Ten. So who’s gonna grab the Green Jacket?
