Best Remedies For Common Golf Injuries

It’s always about this time of the summer when I start feelin’ a twinge or two towards the end of the back nine, and for once it’s not caused by looking at my scorecard. But my remedies are pretty much limited to ibuprofen, a tube of Icy Hot – and maybe a couple bottles of suds at the 19th hole.

Play golf long enough and eventually you’ll have to deal with at least one of these common complaints:

  • Back Pain
  • Tennis/Golfer’s Elbow
  • Shoulder Pain
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Knee Pain

I’m guessin’ more than few of my Rock Heads have some experience with these golf injuries, so chime in with what’s hurtin’ you and how you combat the pain. I’m especially interested to hear from those who were advised to put down the clubs for a while – how long were you off the course, and how was it when you came back?

Back pain, I think I have a bulging disk, and it hurts usually everyday, so I just play through the pain. Stretch, Sports Cream, and a few beers to dull the pain and I am good to go! Fired my best round yesterday ever, through the pain!

Wow John, congrats on the great round! Sorry to hear you’re stuck playing through the pain, but glad to know we share the same “treatment” plan!

So far, all I have to complain about on the golf course is burnin’ chapped lips, stingin’ golf shoe blisters, and blazin’ sun burn. I know, I know..quit whining and toughen up. I carry some chap stick, sun screen and an extra pair of socks in the bag. I counting on it, that I can play golf well into my old age without any nagging back, knee or shoulder injuries.
