5 Great Non-Golf Movies with Golf Scenes
We all know that there are only a handful of REALLY good golf movies: Tin Cup, The Legend of Bagger Vance, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Caddyshack, Happy Gilmore, etc. But I think we often forget that golf is actually in many movies that are not about golf at all! Here are a few good ones to jog your memory!
Space Jam
Now this movie brings back some memories, especially for those 9o’s kids out there. The golf scene in this movie was filmed at Lake Arrowhead Country Club’ s 15th hole, in Lake Arrowhead, CA. Bill Murray and Michael Jordan (who both love golf off the screen) play a round with Boston Celtic’s Larry Bird in this scene!
I Am Legend
Here’s Will Smith (who also enjoys playing golf in his spare time). Obviously, this doesn’t take place on a golf course, but it sure would be cool to tee off on some of the spots he does in this scene!
Dirty Dancing
Dirty Dancing is a classic. Because it takes place at a summer resort, it’s only natural that golf should have it’s moment in this movie. This scene takes place on hole #16 at Bald Mountain Golf Course at Rumbling Bald Resort in Lake Lure, NC.
Old Dogs
Old Dogs is a great family comedy. If you haven’t seen it, John Travolta (another fan of the game) and Robin Williams (who has a famous comedy sketch about golf) star in it- so enough said. This scene takes place after Robin and John’s characters accidentally and unknowingly take each other’s daily medications and are attempting to help close a business deal over a game of golf.
Goldfinger
Goldfinger (a 1964 Sean Connery James Bond movie) seems to be one of the our Rock Head’s favorite non-golf movies with a golf scene. This one was filmed at Stoke Park, in Buckinghamshire, England!
Thanks to all our Rock Heads who shared their favorite non-golf movies with golf scenes with us! We included some of the movies you mentioned here in this blog. Be sure to comment if any others come to mind!
