Packed Gym? No Problem!
It’s January; the month when the gym is crowded enough to send some running in the other direction. But don’t worry, whether you’re a gym-n00b or a gym-rat, you can learn to navigate a crowded gym with ease.
1. Do your prep work before
Fill up your water bottle and change clothes before you go. If you can’t change beforehand, wear non-bulk clothes you don’t have to hang and shoes instead of boots so if there aren’t any lockers, you can carry all your stuff in your bag.
2. Try new cardio
Instead of waiting in line for the elliptical, try something new. Vary up you workout and try a bike, stair-stepper, or rowing machine. Or grab a jump rope and do 10-minute sets. Swapping out your normal cardio is beneficial because it forces you to work different muscles.
3. Workout with a partner.
Working out with a friend allows you to take turn using weight machines or dumbbells so you don’t have to stand around and wait for someone to finish using the equipment. Take your rest break and spot your partner. You’ll be more motivated too!
4. Find your own space
Can’t get on your favorite weight-training machine? That’s OK! Just make your own body-weight circuit workout. An empty corner is enough space for you to get a great workout.
5. If the weather’s nice, go for a run outdoors!
