The Players Championship
This week On The Range-The Players Championship. Is this the 5th major of golf? Golf.com says no, but they are calling it the Florida Masters. No matter if you think it should be or shouldn’t be a major it is still a great event on the PGA Tour. With one of the most iconic golf holes on tour, #17 the Island Green. It only plays 137 yards but that give these tour players fits!
Some may notice that we have changed our format a little when it comes to making predictions. As you will see we will be selecting a Winner, On The Leaderboard (Top 10 finisher), Sleeper ( 25/1 + odds), and our BOLD prediction (100/1 + odds player).
Predictions
Winner
Dustin Johnson (12/1) – DJ is tied as the odds on favorite this week with, Rory McIlroy. After Rory’s display on the greens last week we are going with…Dustin Johnson. He took off a couple of weeks after winning at the WGC-Mexico event and heads to TPC Sawgrass well rested. The course will be playing long this week and DJ is known as a bomber with his clubs, so we think he is in line to capture the W.
On The Leaderboard
Tommy Fleetwood (25/1) – Did you know that an Englishman has NEVER won The Players Championship? Can that change this week? Maybe. We had to weigh in an Ian Poulter pick as the sleeper but decided that Fleetwood was set up for a better finish. We think that Tommy will easily grace the Top 10 and could potentially fight for a share of the $12.5 million purse.
Sleeper
Kevin Kisner (80/1) – Kisner has been in the Top 30 in his last 4 events. Last week during the Arnold Palmer Invitational Kisner put together a great Thursday, Friday & Saturday but unfortunately shot a 75 on Sunday sliding back on the leaderboard. This week we like Kisner to be a sleeper pick and finish no worse than the Top 25.
BOLD Prediction
Cameron Champ (150/1) – The rookie started off the season on fire 🔥! Unfortunately, he has not carried that success over as of later. His last 2 events he missed the CUT, including last weeks Arnold Palmer Invitational. TPC Sawgrass is playing long this week and Champ can crush a golf ball so we think that could help him stay on the leaderboard this week. We would love to see Champ in the winners’ circle but we’re guessing that he will make the cut and play good enough for a Top 50 finish.
