Keeping Up With Your Favorite Golf Pros This Holiday Season

Are you one of those people who live vicariously through the lives of the rich and famous? Isn’t that all of us in some regard or another? Our favorite professional golfers are enjoying their time off in the most fabulous of ways. What with beautiful wives, too much money, and a few months of spare time in which they really only have to practice playing golf (tough!), of course they are enjoying their holidays. Golfers are some of the most interactive people on social media and it’s really fun to follow along. I decided to stalk some of the pros on their Twitter accounts and see what they are all up to this time of year.

The one and only Tiger Woods is keeping busy this December with the opening of the golf course he designed, El Cardonal. According to his Twitter account, he was busy playing the course, too, getting it ready for others to play. He designed the course hoping to provide the need for strategy, meaning you can play the hole three or four different ways, although he emphasized the fact that the course is built for all levels of golfers. The golf course is located in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and opened on December 14th. From the looks of it, I gotta get to Mexico to try out this course!

Bubba Watson is busy making rap videos about his alter-ego, Bubba Claus. I may have mentioned this last week, but it’s worth talking about again and again. After launching his single, Bubba Claus, Watson launched a Bubba Claus contest on his Twitter feed. His 12 Days of Christmas contest has a new task each day starting with Day 1: Write Bubba Claus a letter from your kids. Each day he is giving out a prize to the winner. On Day 9 he asked fans to make a parody rap video. Here’s the winner:

After celebrating his 26th birthday earlier this month in Bakers Bay in the Bahamas with his family, Rickie Fowler returned home to enjoy the spoils of his newest endorsement deal, WheelsUp, a private aviation company. He even promoted the company on a recent appearance on CNBC’s Squawkbox. Rough life, Rickie, thanks for rubbing it in.

Ian Poulter is immersing himself in other sports this off season. On December 20th, he tweeted about the Manchester United game while watching at a sports bar. He attended the Orlando Magic/Philadelphia 76ers game this week getting a little upset that the Magic fell to the worst team in the league, tweeting “Hahahaha what a day I’m having. The @OrlandoMagic are about to lose to a 2-26 team tonight. Really can’t believe my eyes.” Sorry Ian, maybe the success of your book “No Limits” will make you feel a little better. Looks like he is spending some time signing copies for fans as well.

Rory McIlroy has been tweeting a lot of pictures of himself at the gym. Always working to get better, aren’t ya Rory? He retweeted a side-by-side photo of himself from 2007 and 2014 that @TheOpen had tweeted out saying “He’s come a long way since #TheOpen in 2007!” Perhaps all that gym time is paying off!

John Daly is having a big month this December. Earlier this month he popped the question to his longtime girlfriend, Anna Cladakis. He tweeted, “Tonite I asked my best friend, soul mate & no one better to marry me & she said yes! #love #happiness #2souls1heart.” Woo! Congrats! Later that same week, Daly won the Beko Classic in Turkey, his first victory in 10 years. This month, he also debuted his six part series Sirius XM radio show called “Hit It Hard”, named after his successful country single “I Hit It Hard” that debuted on Sirius XM earlier this yar. Pretty awesome way to end 2014 if you ask me.

So no matter your plans this holiday week, make sure you are following your favorite golfers on Twitter. Not only will you see what they are up to, but you may be able to win one of Bubba Claus’ awesome giveaway gifts! Happy Holidays, Rockheads!
