New Years Resolution

Hey Rock Heads! The Holidays are over and your favorite Caveman is back at the keyboard to bring you the latest and greatest Rock Bottom news for 2009! But with the start of each and every New Year, the first step is to make your resolution. My resolution? Of course it’s to keep busting out the best deals in golf in 2009…ALL YEAR LONG! So what’s your New Years Resolution? And I don’t want to hear about how much weight you’re going to lose. Tell me your golfin’ goals for this year! Set a low score and then go DO IT. And let all your fellow Rock Heads along with your buddy Scratch know what that goal is. Cuz after all, once you tell a Caveman something it’s bad luck to go back on your word. Ok, maybe I made that up, but pretend it’s true. It’s good inspiration! See you on the links.

I’m 48 and have been playing 3 years. Avg is 90, but my low last year was 81 and had my first eagle. I plan on taking lessons and increasing flexibility to help me turn better. My goal is to get my club distance down within 5-10 yards per club and learn how to fade and draw shots. I hope to score in the 90’s in April and 80’s in May and break into the 70’s by June and staying in the low 80’s. I plan on playing minimum of 2 rounds a week with more chipping and putting practice in between. I still will drop 10-20 pounds so I can walk more rounds with pushcart. This is because later in the rounds I got fatigued and game suffered. One last thing….whoop the pants off the other three guys in my foursome and take the trophy home 50-75% of the time.

    (1) I resolve to play one round of golf with a set of clubs made before 1960, a blade putter and an old canvas bag to lug the sticks around. Why you ask? To make myself appreciate, all the more, the latest in golf technology that resides in my bag.

    (2) I resolve to stick with what I currently have in the bag, and learn the nuances of these clubs… until the next greatest “miracle clubs” are released.

    (3) I resolve to make it to the course atleast once a week.

    (4) I resolve to investigate these newfangled Golf GPS yardage doohickies.
