Stricker Wins The Memorial!

In good ol’ Dublin, Ohio, Jack Nicklaus held his memorial tournament this weekend at the Muirfield Village Golf club. Steve Stricker, who just a few days prior had discovered that in his last 11 attempts he had never even finished in the top 10, collected his nerves to come out victorious.

He dominated throughout the weekend starting with his ace on no. 8 and then birdie at no. 9 Friday night. He then came out with 2 eagles Saturday morning putting him at 7 under in a span of 7 holes. By the time the weather had everyone running for cover on Sunday, He had a pretty commanding 4 stroke lead.

After the delay, however, Stricker found himself with a feeling of impending doom and began to fall a part a bit. He was able to keep it together enough for a 1 stroke victory, becoming the first winner since 1983 to play the final nine holes over, and boosting him to the 4th spot in the World Rankings. He stands as the top ranked American right now.

Congrats Steve Stricker!
