Is Trump’s Golf Course Going To Be Worth The Wait?

Five years. That’s how long Donald Trump has been fighting for what he declares will be “The world’s greatest golf course.” Five years is also how long it will be before anyone will play on the course, and the cost? Just over $1.1 Billion.

Construction has begun at the Menie Estate, and is expected to be finished in 2012, but the turf will not be playable for another 3 years. Sean Connery and Colin Montgomerie have been chosen by Trump to be the first to tee off once the course is ready.

So why was this controversial? 40% of the course is taken up by the Foveran Links which are an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest), and it is costing some of the locals their land. To be fair Trump has offered them 15% over market value for their property, but this still hasn’t stopped a group called TUT (Tripping up Trump) from forming. This group vows to stand in Trumps way even though the local government has given him the go-ahead.

What do you think Rock Heads? Do you think this course is worth the headache?
